The day after

I am so thankful it is all over, I was so sick of the calls the ads basically the whole negative feeling to all the elections going on local, state, federal. It is going to be so nice not to have to see hear all that mess.

I do have to say that I am disappointed, sad angered by one result though. I cannot believe Prop 8 in California passed! I am sick over it I really am. For those that don't know what Prop 8 is it overturned the rights of gays to marry. I don't understand why some people cannot accept homosexuality. Why they can't allow couples that love one another have the same rights as hetrosexual couples do. This only adds to my belief that religion is truely the root of all evils.

Love the sinner, hate the sin. God will never sanctify a gay marriage. What does the Bible say about homosexuality? http://www.carm.org/questions/homosexuality.htm

Part of the reason I don't believe in a "god" of the Christian or any other monotheistic religion.

The bible has been changed and modified many times over to fit the beliefs of the ruler in charge at the time.

I don't now or ever will view it as a "sin".

I also wanted to ask how your husband was doing. He has been on my mind and I hope his fight continues to be successful :)

I don't know if the bible has been changed over time. It's translated from the original manuscripts from their original language into say, English. We do not translate from the original languages to the English, to the Spanish, and then to the German. It is from the original languages to the English, or into the Spanish, or into the German.

Take the New Testament, for example. The disciples of Jesus wrote the New Testament in Greek and though we do not have the original documents, we do have around 6,000 copies of the Greek manuscripts that were made very close to the time of the originals. These various manuscripts, or copies, agree with each other to almost 100 percent accuracy. Statistically, the New Testament is 99.5% textually pure. That means that there is only 1/2 of 1% of of all the copies that do not agree with each other perfectly. But, if you take that 1/2 of 1% and examine it, you find that the majority of the "problems" are nothing more than spelling errors and very minor word alterations. For example, instead of saying Jesus, a variation might be "Jesus Christ." So the actual amount of textual variation of any concern is extremely low.

What about other non-biblical writings? What about the accuracy of Plato, Caesar, or Aristotle then? If the Bible is singled out, then we better discard Plato, Caesar and Aristotle too.

Homosexuality was not frowned upon in the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans. In fact it was widly praticed. In some cultures a boy was not considered am man until he was prenatrated by an elder male.

There are many different versions of the bible and each vary slightly. Just like the differnet branches of Christianity, Lutherns have slightly different beliefs than Catholics. Catholics have different beliefs than Baptists yet they are all Christians.

I think it has to more to do with how different religions interpret the bible then how it is written. Every one of us has committed some of those sins in the bible, even the rulers in charge.
I also don't want to offend any Catholics, but IMO, the apocrypha that is contained in the Catholic bible shouldn't even be included in the bible because IMO, they are not God inspired.

The Greeks may of practiced homosexuality, but the bible has never condoned it.
Read about Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible.
If, "The Bible has been changed and modified many time over to fit the beliefs of the ruler in charge at the time" then how has the story of Sodom and Gomorrah (among other truths contained in the bible) survived all these years?
