It finally stopped!

YES!! It has finally stopped snowing, the winds are no longer blowing. I can see the house across my street. It is still bitter cold though. I can't even tell you how many times since Friday that we had to blow out our driveway. But the worst part was being stuck in the house with 2 stir crazy kids. It was too cold to go out and play and they threw fit after fit over it. I don't know if I can make it over the next two weeks with them home, add to that mix my husband is on a temporary layoff for at least three weeks. (whimper)

Wishing all my Jewish friends a wonderful Chanukah.

The Mom Song

How true is this? How many times I day do I say a lot of these things. I thinkevery mom can relate.

I'm scared.

WTF!! All the schools in my area are closed and it is not even snowing. Not a flake in sight. This is in anticipation of a storm that is susposed to be heading our way. It is big thing when schools here close due to weather after all this is Buffalo.

The schools were more concerned with not being able to get the kids home this afternoon. Not a good sign for a snow hater like me.

That Guy

One of the best commericals ever. Ed and I laughed our asses off last night when we seen it for the first time. I think that I'd rather have that guy over diamonds though.

I could just strangle my little sister

I seriously want to beat the shit out of my 13 year old sister. She is so lucky we were at a restraunt, it took all my control not to leap over the table and strangle her.

For some reason she is super jealous of Madeline to a very unhealthy level, in my opnion. Anyways my mom, step dad her, my other sister Julie and her son Joshua (9months), myself and the girls went to Swiss Chalet for dinner.

She literally pushed Madeline off the chair she was sitting on and Madeline fell on the floor. All because Kaylea didn't want Madeline sitting next to Josh. Anyways Santa was there tonight and Madeline got teary and said, "I am going to go and tell Santa that you are a mean auntie and that you hurt me!" That effing bitch of a sister told her that Santa wasn't real and she and Lilly were stupid to believe in him.

And my mom didn't say anything to her about it!

I was going to take her to a Sabres game during the school break well you can forget that! I am also thinking about not giving her the Wii game I bought her for Christmas and giving it to my girls instead.

I have reassured the girls that Santa is real and that Auntie was just being nasty because she is on the naughty list and is not getting anything this year. Madeline bought that hook line and sinker because that little bitch is always nasty to her and makes her cry all the time. The sad thing is Madeline idolizes her and it breaks my heart when my baby cries because my sister is being an asshole.

Doll is possesed

I am sure you have all seen the video or one similar of the Fisher Price Cuddle 'n Coo doll. (if not see below) I was at Target and thought that they had pulled the dolls the shelves. They had plenty of the new ones in new packaging that did not say Islam is the light. But in the back behind "fixed" dolls there one sat. I of course had to buy it just because of the so called scandal.

So I bring it home Ed and I get a good laugh over all the people out there freaking out over a doll. I heard the kids coming in, to I shoved it back in the bag and put it on the top shelf of the linen closet sensor side facing the wall. So the doll is in a bag, in a dark small confined space, no way of someone tripping the sensor to set it off. Every now and then I hear laughing and a small voice saying mama, and of course the now infamous phrase. It totally freaked me out the first time. We were in bed and it was late maybe one in the morning when I heard laughing. Of course I think it is one of my kids. I go to check on them and both are fast asleep. I thought maybe I was just dreaming the whole thing and went to bed. as soon as I laid down, yup you guessed it the laughing again. I'm losing it I thought.

Fast forward to yesterday my sister came over while the girls were at school and she helped me wrap my Christmas presents when we hear the laughing again. Only this time I heard the phrase. Julie was freaked out by it. But I have gotten used to weird things happening here now and again.

A picture is worth a thousand words

I took this photo yesterday of my girls and my nephew. I loved it so much that it is becomming part of my Christmas presents to my mom, my dad, my grandma, my sister (Josh's mom), my aunt, and one for me of course. I blew it up to 5 x 7 size I still need to get some frames for them. Kind of a cheesy gift but look at it, who wouldn't just love it? My sister and I sure do make some cute kids.

And a huge THANK YOU to my friend Wendy who took this photo that I had, (note the crabby, very unhappy and overtired Lillian)

and transformed it into this masterpiece! I now finally have a photo of the four of us where we all look pretty good in my opnion. Ahhh the magic of photoshop. Wendy again thank you and this photo is the best gift I could ever receive!

Boy do I feel old

25 years ago today Michael Jackson's Thriller was released. Where did the time go? I do admit that I do like the song and love the video.

Oh what a night

Yes that is my hubby and myself right before we headed off to the convention center for the World's Largest Disco last night. Not to shabby eh?

Here is Megan, (my brother in law's girlfriend) and myself posiong for a photo with Disco Duck. Man that person in there had to be sweating buckets. Gets pretty hot out there on that dance floor. I know that I had to leave a time or two just to get some air. I hate it when people begin to crowd you like that.

Aww ain't they sweet. Dave and Megan here.

And come on now it just wouldn't be a party without the Village People.

I had such a blast at the party. Dancing with Cookie Monster, Disco Duck, a Drag Queen and random strangers. Today my body is killing me though. I need to find better shoes for thing. I really do. Thank and the fact I got no sleep at all last night. We had gotten a real good deal at a hotel for the night, So after the disco and a few drinks at the bar afterwards. We get up to our room. I took a nice hot bath to soothemy aching feet and wash away the can of hairspray and all that makeup I had on. I come out to find Ed asleep already so I started reading my book. I read for about half an hour when from out in the hall there arose such a clatter. The people in the room next to us finally came in. Woke Ed up in the process. Drunk as can be and they partied for about an hour or so before some left around 5 am. Then came the unmistakable sounds of people doing the nasty. We heard there headboard knocking against the wall, the moans the grunts, the screams. So by now I was overtired, cranky and a tad bit giddy, so figuring that if we can hear then they can most certainly hear us. I bang on the wall and call out, "way to hit that dude" and Ed and I start giggling madly. I think they got the point since it got real quiet after that.

Get Down

Boogie oogie oogie. Tonight I will be disco dancing the night away at the World's Largest Disco. The party of the year here in the B-lo. All benefits are going to Camp Special Days and Good Times. This year the surprise guest are the Brady boys and Cindy too. It is such a blast I so cannot wait.

Their site boasts:

The largest dance floor in New York State with 500,000 watts of sound and lights
Be part of the largest Retro party in the world as seen on VH-1's "Where are they Now?", "CBS this Morning", The Travel Channel's "Secrets" & the front page of "The Wall Street Journal"
Voted "The Greatest Event on Earth" by Festivals.com
Listed as one of the top 50 events in the U.S. in the book "America Bizzaro"

We also got a hotel room this year for after, right down the street from the party, and are going to hit the strip dresses in our disco duds afterwards. Got to love NY with drinking until 4 am.

I think I am getting a cold.

Ugh I hate this feeling. The stuffy head, itchy throat, I coughed up something most foul a few minutes ago. I so do not need nor want to be sick right now. Black Friday is around the corner and I need to be well to go out that morning. Yes I am one of those crazy people. But the deals that I have gotten in the past are just too good to pass up.

Teacher gifts

If you are like me, you are racking your brains out about what to give the kids teachers, aides for the holidays. This year I think I am going to do this. Simple easy and not another World's Best Teacher coffee mug. I am such a foodie and these are just fantastic.

Cappuccino Chocolate Chunk Muffin Mix (gift jar)

1 1/2 qt. glass jar
2 cups flour
4 squares BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup GENERAL FOODS INTERNATIONAL Suisse Mocha
2-1/2 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

LAYER ingredients in 1-1/2-qt. glass canister or jar in the following order (from bottom to top): flour, chocolate, sugar, flavored instant coffee, baking powder, cinnamon and salt, tapping jar gently on counter to settle each layer before adding the next layer.
Cover.

ATTACH baking directions (see below) to jar.

BAKING Directions: Preheat oven to 375°F.
Beat 1 egg in large bowl; stir in 1 cup milk and 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted.
Empty muffin mix into bowl.
Stir just until moistened.
Spoon batter into 12 greased or paper-lined medium muffin cups, filling each cup 2/3 full.
Bake 15 to 20 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean.
Cool 5 min.; remove from pan.
Cool completely on wire rack.

Getting there..look

New floor, new paint, new couch. Same old kids lol.

Still searching for the perfect curtains, area rug, pictures, and throw pillows though. It is so great to finally be doing something to the inside of my home for a change. I really love how it is turning out, it is nice to walk into a room and not feel totally disgusted by the 20+ year old carpet and couch.

I'm a dirty old lady!

Shame shame shame on me for thinking such naughty thoughts about a sweet young lad of 21. (Hmm then again Ashton is 16 years younger than Demi and there is only 11 between me and Zac Effron). Yes I admit it I love Zac Effron. He is such a cutie pie. Thank you to my daughter for introducing me to his yumminess. I took the girls to see High School Musical 3 on the Veterans Day. There was this one scene where an angry Troy danced throughout the halls of the school alone at night and all I could think of was a young Kevin Bacon in Footloose.
This scene remember it?

Mmmmm.. I love me some Bacon too.

I so cannot wait until 2010 when the new version of Footloose is released and of course Zacy Poo, as I like to call him to tease my girls will be staring as Ren in it. Madeline loves Footloose as it is so tihs will be a special treat for her a movie she loves staring a boy she loves. Yeah Madeline will be happy and mommy will just have to take her to see this movie too. Sigh oh well. A mom has to do what a mom has to do.

Mom gets a night out!

Wow it has been awhile since I said that. I am a tad nervous though since I really don't know any of these women. I joined a local mom's group and tonight is a Whine (wine) night. Food, drinks, conservation. One of the moms from Lilly's class told me about it and I am glad she did. I need a break! Especially after this week. But on the bright side what a productive week it has been. Got the carpet ripped out of my house, laid a laminate floor. Threw away our old couch, painted the living room, took off all the wall paper in the hallway. Started to put on the moulding. It will be done later on tonight. Now onto furniture shopping :)

They're here....finally

Got the girls school pics in today, I cannot believe my baby is in pre k! Even harder to believe is that my oldest is in 2nd grade already.

The day after

I am so thankful it is all over, I was so sick of the calls the ads basically the whole negative feeling to all the elections going on local, state, federal. It is going to be so nice not to have to see hear all that mess.

I do have to say that I am disappointed, sad angered by one result though. I cannot believe Prop 8 in California passed! I am sick over it I really am. For those that don't know what Prop 8 is it overturned the rights of gays to marry. I don't understand why some people cannot accept homosexuality. Why they can't allow couples that love one another have the same rights as hetrosexual couples do. This only adds to my belief that religion is truely the root of all evils.

A day no one will soon forget

Now I really didn't like either canidate that was running this time around. They both had things I liked and disliked about them, but I really believe that neither one would do our nation real good. It will be very interesting to see how things will go. So I am sitting back crossing my fingers and hoping that everything turns out okay.

Should've stayed in bed

Ever have one of these days? I felt like a zombie all day. Just going through the motions half asleep. Not seeing things that were right infront of my face. I'm glad it is almost over.

Sunday, November 2, 2008

I am not going to get that

If I receive one more political phone call I am going to scream! I so cannot wait for this stupid election to be over with already. I swear 9 out of the last 10 calls that I have received have been people telling me who to vote for.

It is over

And finally after a number of years of bitter cold nights we finally had a decent Halloween. No winter coats, hats, or gloves were needed. Costumes were actually seen. I was very disappointed at how many people were not handing out candy this year, yet you seen the entire family out trick or treating. One of the parents should of been home handing stuff out while the other took the kids. This is such a huge pet peeve of mine. It was a pretty slow year year we didn't even go through 2 bags of candy. Good thing we bought candy we actually like to eat ourselves so it won't go to complete waste. ;)

No no no no no!

No no no! It just cannot be, please tell me it is not real, that it is not what I see! It is still too early for ths to happen, I mean it is not even Halloween yet. How can it be snowing? Yes you read that right as I sit here and type this, I am shaking my head in disbelief with a tear rolling down my cheek looking at snow falling to the ground. I am just happy and need to remind myself that the ground is still to warm for it to actually stick around.

The funny thing is that yesterday while Lilly was at pre K I ran to the mall to get the girls their winter coats. How is that for timing?

Hard work really pays off.

Been real busy past few days, laying a new floor, ripping apart our basement, we had new glass block windows installed yesterday. I found a paint color that I love for the living room and hallway. Soon we will be buying french doors for Madeline's bedroom and closing up the remaining gap. Expanding a closet (YES!!) Laying the floor in the living room. Each week my home is getting closer to what I want it to be. It is so great to finally getting the inside work done.

Anyways this past Sunday my aunt held a baby shower for her son and his wife. I told her that I'd make a desert for it and came up with this idea.

Yes they are cup cakes. Well what do you think? I think they are adorable. I was thrilled with how thay came out. Cake decorating is new to me, and this was my first real, "job". Took me all day to do. Everyone oohed and ahhed over them at the shower, but harldly anyone ate them. That kind of pissed me off after slaving over them all day. "They are too cute to eat", "I have to show them to my husband/ daughter" etc.. were the reasons I heard and heard again. Indeed they did take them home. I arrived early to give them to the banquest manager and she wents nuts over them and told me later how all the staff loved them. That made me feel real good. Even more so than my family's praise.

I'm in love, head over heels in love...

with my new .....

front loading washing machine.

My only complaint so far is that it is too quiet. I can no longer hang my head out of my hallway, and cock it as I listen downstairs to hear if the cycle has stopped. (Hee hee).

Mommy brag time

ooops looks like I hit save insead of publish here, my bad.

Okay time for another mommy brag moment here. Madeline has been chosen once again as her grade levels, "Beary Special Person of the Week". (A student that gets nominated by teachers for best exemplifying the school's character pledge. ie kind, caring, helpful, respectful). I am so very proud of her. She was so excited when she came out of school and when she seen me standing there waiting for her she ran over to me jumped in my arms and blurted the news out. She had her picture taken with the principal, will get a certificate and all week her picture will hang in the school's main showcase.

Not a pretty sight

Woke up this morning feeling like crap. I had a chill right down to the very core of me. I wanted nothing more than to pull those covers up back over my head and drift back off to dreamland. But no, the annoyong cry of the alarm clock wouldn't allow me to do that. Not to mention that I had to wake and feed the spawn, and get at least one ready for school this morning.

So as I am in the kitchen putting some water on for some hot tea I glance out the window and see that the lawn is white. A cold nasty frost crept in overnight. I go to the living room and put on the Today Show and see in the bottom corner of the screen that it is 37 degrees outside right then. (whimper) I am so not ready or looking forward to weather like this.

To top it off after I dropped Maddie off at school I went to Dunkin Donuts and they totally screwed up my order. Maybe I convince Lilly to go back to bed for another hour.

I just want to ...

Light The Night Walk, was a blast

We had such a nice time time tonight, managed to raise $340.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. Not much but every bit helps. My heart broke for this family that was there who had a 4 year old daughter Margaret stiken with leukemia, she is the cutest thing. Having a 4 year old myself it really hit close to home. How lucky we are to have healthy childfren, I think a lot of us take it for granted, I am still misting up thinking about her. She was brought up on stage because her team had raised $28,000. It was my first walk and I am so doing it again every year. It warmed my heart to see so many people come out for such a worthwhile cause. The weather was great too, cool, not too windy. The dark clouds passed right over Deleware Park without releasing a single drop.

I got a shout out fron Route 66, the band that they had playing there because during their rendition of the B-52's Love Shack they asked for "help from everyone" during the bang, bang, bang, parts then it was "You're what?"... silence until I shouted out from the crowd, "Tin roof....rusted". I also won two items from he Chinese auction that they held. Both things are for the kiddos, I cannot wait until Madeline sees the Camp Rock lunchbox she is so gonna freak. There was so much free food and drinks that it was your own fault if you walked away hungry.

The walk itself was a beautiful site, seeing all those white and red balloons in a larage parade blinking. I would of loved just to have been an observer, it must of looked amazing to the passing cars. I hope that they release the number in attendance, I am really curious to know that information. Next year we are going to bring the girls, we think that they will have a blast.

Helped out in class today

I volunteered in Lillian's classroom today and had a blast! I even have three new boyfriends now. This one little boy just kept wanting to hug me he had to give me at least a dozen hugs in class today. Anther one asked if he could hold my hand as we walked out of the building when school was over. Good thing Lilly didn't get jealous. Speaking of her, one of the things I was asked to do was glue little pictures they drew about what I do in the day time and what I do in the night time, to a larger piece of paper maybe 11 x 14 in size.
I so cannot wait to tell Ed what she wrote.

In the day time I go to 7-Eleven and Tops with my daddy in his Cavalier

She drew a picture of her and him in the car. It was so sweet. When Ed works second shift in the mornings he'll take her to 7-Eleven to get a paper and coffee and some days he will go to Tops, (a local grocery store) to get a bite to eat for lunch and sometimes his dinner for the day.

Some of the things the other kids wrote laugh made me laugh. I am sure that their parents will get a giggle out of it too.

Her class also does this adorable song and dance called Tooty Ta. Lilly has been doing it all week so when the class did it today at the end of the day I joined in. Her teacher and the TA started laughing as I did the dance too. I think the TA nabbed a quick photo of me, I swear a seen a flash. As we were leaving her teacher told me she thought it was great that I did the dance with them like that. She remembered me voluntering when Madeline was in her class. I always felt guilty that I couldn't help out more when she was little, I have Lilly at home and she was a baby. Hopefully I will be able to help out a lot more this time around.

Time flies

Wow it is the last day of September already. The year is passing by so very fast. I can hardly believe that in just two days my wedding anniversary is here again. Nine years together as husband and wife. This year we are planning on going out since last year that day was a chemo day. Well not going out until Saturday my wonderful aunt asked if she could take the girls that weekend. She didn't need to twist my arm to say YES! My aunt and uncle want to take them to the Great Pumpkin Farm and have bought them a Hallowen movie, Monster Squad that they are planning on watching. They should have a blast. Lillian just adores my uncle and has him wrapped around her little finger. He just eats her up and thinks she is the cutest thing ever. I think of all the neices, nephews, great nieces and nephews that hands down she is his favorite.

Wii Fit

Lucked out while I was at the store, a shipment of Wii Fits came in. I managed to snag two of them, that is the limit you could buy. I was thinking about saving it for Christmas for the girls but figured that I'd enjoy using it as well so I surprised them with it. Let's say that when it came time to go to dance class a fight was put up today.

So after we came home and I shipped them off to bed mommy had fun playing with it. I have to say I really enjoyed it and was shocked when I looked at the clock and an hour had past already. I had to laugh when I tried doing the yoga poses, now I have never done yoga in my entire life and when my "trainer" was telling me that I had excellent posture and I nearly laughed my ass off when the results came on the screen as Yoga Trainer. Beeginners luck? I managed to unlock 4 new exercises too. I really think that this is a "workout" that I can keep up. I actually cannot wait for the girls to go to school tomorrow so I can play some more. :) I wonder if it really is a legit thing. Hope so.

OMG OMG SQUEE!!

I am so shaking right now, I am thrilled beyond belief. I just checked my e mail and seen a notice from Shea's Performing Arts Center letting me know about a priority ticket offer for RENT. Now if you know me you know that I LOVE this musical, it is one of my favorites. I have the movie and watch it all the time, my girls know the entire score to this show as well. I'd get weird looks when my toddler would belt out lines like, "We raise our glass you bet your ass" or "to leather, to dildos" To make things ever better Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp who originates the roles on Broadway and in the movie are in the cast! I could just die! Of course I bought Ed and myself tickets right away, I got us in row K. So Jan. 17th you know where I will be. :)

ring ring FP calling

I am so happy Fisher Price called me today and asked for Lillian to come toy testing on Monday! It's been awhile since she has been there. An easy $25 bucks for 30 minutes of "work". I love it when they call to use my girls, love it even better when they get called for the photo shoots. Nothing beats seeing your babies on boxes or in print ads.

On a side note the Ghost Hunters episode on tonight was based in Buffalo again! I love it when they come to my area. I'd so love to be able to go with them on one of their hunts. I have always been interested in this field even as a young child.
This area was the birthplace of the Spiritualist movement and has a long history of paranormal phenomenon.

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 20

Oh me oh my day 20 already. For lunch today I had one of my favorites a Miracle Whip sandwihc, yup that is plain old Miracle Whip on two slices of white bread. I don't know what the break down would be but I am positive it is well under $5.00

My husband the dick!

Funny how fast a sure thing can turn into not until the Buffalo Bills win a Superbowl!

Thanks to Molson Canadian it will be a LONG time before he gets any. Molson is a very popular Canadian beer in case you are wondering that recently launched an Answer Honesty ad capaign. answer Honestly is basically a this or that type of question. My label tonight read...Answer Honestly would you prefer...
To give up sex forever
or
Give up watching hockey forever?

Would you know he turned bright red and refused to answer he question. Stammering all the time. Making up a bunch of other senarios about the sex part. Dipshit would rather watch hockey than have sex. Well fine I say, he can have his hockey as long as I have BOB. :)

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 19

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 16

Had a cup of soup for lunch today. Sometimes it just really hits the spot.

Can I get a WOOT WOOT!

I was in Walgreens not to long ago when my cell phone rang. It was my aunt telling me that Game Crazy just called her and told her that they got in a shipment of Wii Fits. (She was on a waiting list for one.) So I hightail it out of the store an dash over to the video game store. I managed to be able to pick up two systems. Now I am just torn about opening it now or saving it for Christmas. LOL! I am hoping to be able to sell the other on ebay.

Madeline is going to be so excited! She really wants this.

Ahead of the game

Yuppers I am, today after school I took the girls to get their Halloween costumes.
Lillian picked out the Spanish Princess one. (I swear she is so not my kid when it comes to the best holiday of all time).

Madeline, the child after my own heart has decided to go with this, incorporating her love of dance into her costume this year. (She will be wearing a flesh colored bodysuit/ leotard under it, I am not crazy). She wanted to be a ballerina, but not a pretty ballerina, a dead one. So I'll do her make up to give her that goth, corpse look. She thinks her dance teacher will love it at the Halloween party.

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 15

Today my lunch cost me a whopping 50 cents. I stopped off at the fruit stand and got myself a HUGE red pepper yum! Took it home washed it, sliced it and devoured it. Red peppers are my absoloute FAVE! I hardly ever bought them in the grocery store though because they are always so expensive. I bought another one that I will eat as a snack later on tonnight, I don't think I could hold off saving it for lunch tomorrow.

Première...Demi-Plie

Today Madeline had her first ballet lesson, she was so thrilled that she is now old enough to take it at the dance studio she goes too. The owner starts them at age 7, she thinks that the younger kids would not do so well with all the time spent on the bar. I totally agree with her, I don't think there is any way that Lillian would or could stand it at 4.

So after class she come bouncing up the staris does an arabesque and tells me that I need to turn our basement into a ballet studio complete with bar and the wall of mirrors."Please mommy, please mommy, PLEASE!!" I think she likes it. There are 2 other girls in her class, Miss Theresa her teacher told me that hip-hop class has stolen a lot of the girls away from ballet. I am so not ready to see my baby girl up on stage poppin' and lockin' and moving in ways waaaaaaaaaaaay to old for her yet.

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 9

Another day of feeling run down, another day of cup of soup for lunch.

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 8

I think that I am coming down with a cold here, not feeling so hot. I really wanted some chicken soup so after dropping my oldest off at school this morning I ran up tp the grocery store and got myself some cup of soup, cheap, quick and easy. So that is what I had for lunch today a cup of Lipton Chicken Noodle Cup of Soup. The box cost me $1.74 so you figure my actual portion was around $ .45.

What a nice surprise

Today started dance class for the girls. Madeline's third year of tap and jazz, and Lillian's first. Madeline will also be taking ballet classes those start on Wednesday. Anyways after picking them up from school, going home having them change into their dance clothes, and getting them a quick bite to eat we were off. While getting ready for her first class, getting reacquainted with some familiar faces meeting some new ones a very familiar one enters the room. My sister in law, she signed up her daughter for dancing lessons too, so her daughter and Lillian are in the same class! I love it I am so very excited for this year now, Lilly and Dakota love playing together and do it so well. Plus this means only one recital to go to (hee hee)

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 7

Mmm mmm mmm had one of my favorite things for lunch today and all it coast me was $3.60. A pint of chicken lo mein from one of my favotite chinese places not to far from my home.

Mommy lost

Ok I dropped off Lilly at school a few minutes ago, today she is there all by herself for the full amount of time. Sigh, it is too quiet here. I wonder how long it will take me to get used to this. It feels like something is missing here. I don't like this feeling.

NaBloPo Sept Challenge day 4

I was a good girl today. I stopped off at a local fruit/ vegetable vendor this morning and I got fruit and vegetables for my $5 I managed to get 8 apples, 6 oranges, a bunch of bananas, 3 red peppers, and a honeydew melon. I had an apple for my lunch, not much but enough to fill me up.

It's a boy!!

I got my nephew for a day or two, Julie is not feeling so well so she asked if I could watch him. Not a problem, I love the little guy. Plus Madeline is at my mom's so it is just Lillian here with me. Lillian is having a blast with him, she'd make such a good big sister. She is making him smile and laugh, she even gave him her favorite stuffed dog to play with. I am shocked that he is still up it is so past his bedtime here. Lillian is half asleep on the couch next to me I don't mind in the least I love talking with him, it is amazing how much they grow in just 5 short months. It is almost hard to believe that my girls were once this tiny.

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Final Countdown!

In under a week I will be sending both girls off to school! Lillian is so excited to be starting pre-k and is in fact getting on my nerves a tad with her desire to go. Begging, pleading, and crying everyday that she wants to go to school. She does not understand the concept of "in a few days" I will have to go with Lillian for her first day of pre-k. The teachers think it will make for an easier transition for the kids. I had to laugh at it, Lillian will have no problems what so ever. Madeline will be starting 2nd grade, wow where does the time go? She is so excited because the second grade classrooms are on the second floor of the school. So starting Sept 4th, I will be having two and a half hours all to myself Monday thru Friday. (yeah)

Boogie oogie oogie

Disco...we are going to World's Largest Disco this November. It is a charity even that benefits Camp Good Days and Special Times, (a camp for kids with cancer). We are not able to get tickets every year, it sells out so fast. The Disco has become the biggest party in Buffalo, and to think that we were at the very first one oh so many years ago when it wasn't such a big deal. Now its the place to be the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It is funny when I think back to the first one where it was just like going to a bar with a huge dance floor. I cannot remember anyone dressed in 70's duds back then, now if you aren't decked out in 70's gear you are the odd one out.

Last time we went I dressed Ed up like Elton John. I was just browing some random 70's pics and I seen one of Elton and I went, "Holy shit!, Ed looks just like him in the picture!" I called Ed over and even he had to agree about the similarity, even down to the little tooth gap. It was eerie. So many people loved it they were calling out "Hey Elton!" "Elton love your work" and stuff like that. People were coming up tp him and having thier picture taken with him, it was great! I hope this year is just as much fun. I don't like the fact that they are hiding thecelebrity guest until the morning of though, I think that sucks.

Friday, August 22, 2008

Finally!

After a long long LONG wait, I finally got the pics from Madeline's dance classes. Still waiting on the dvd though. I'm so not happy about that fact. I signed them up yesterday Madeline was bumped up a level in tap and is adding ballet classes and Lillian is starting tap / jazz. One good thing is that their tap classes will be back to back on Monday evenings, that will make things so much easier for me.

I am never buying produce from the grocery store again

well at least not as long as the fruit and veggie stand guys are still in the parking lot of the butcher shop that is.

I went grocery shopping earlier and was disgusted at the meat selection so I decided to head over to the local butcher shop afterwards. In the parking lot there was a fruit and veggie stand set up so after I got my meat I wandered on over.

For a whopping $7.00 I was able to purchase:
1 canteloupe
1 honeydew melon
2 peaches
2 pears
2 lemons
2 green peppers
6 bananas
6 apples
12 ears of corn

Finally an affordable way to get these items. I asked how long they'd be there and was told until early November. (Yeah), nothing like farm fresh food.

Gas prices and Elvis!

Color me shocked when I seen the price at the local gas station yesterday $4.01 for a gallon, Yeah! The prices are finally faling but I still am not happy about it. The price needs to come down even more. Does the goverment really think that it will quiet the masses for a few pennies. I say still bitch and moan and when it gets to a more reasonable price then I'll be happy. I don't think it will ever go back to under $3.00 a gallon. Damn I still remember the morning of 9/11, it skyrocketed to a whopping $1.99 a gallon by us, and I was like thrilled I filled up the day before because $1.99 for a gallon of gas was insane!

Yesterday afternoon my aunt and I took the girls to the fair again. I love the fair, I finally got my bloomin' onion. (yum) We spent a good portion of the evening there in the beer tent. Now before you go apeshit about taking two young kids into a beer tent it was Lillian who made the bee line for it. We were walking by it and Terry Buchwald was playing. A link to his site; http://www.tcbtribute.com/
Yes he does do Elvis but that is just a part of it, he also sings country and rock it is just not an Elvis show. And he is not one of those cheesy Elvis impersonators either. He is really good.

Back to the story we are walking by and he is doing an Elvis set, Lilly starts jumping up and down screaming "Elvis, Elvis!" broke free of my grip amd started to run. I nabbed her and asked my aunt if she wanted to go in and see him play. My aunt being an Elvis fan said sure.

We go inand Lillian wants to go to the dance floor, so up to the front we go, her being so small makes it easy to maneuver to the front of the stage. Thankfully the people are nice and are gettinga huge kick out of a little girl screaming for Elvis and let me through no problem. Not that the crowd was deep or anything.

People were laughing their asses of at her as she danced and sang along, people were taking pictures of her, saying how adorable she is, giving her high fives. His set ended soon after we got there but that didn't stop Miss Lillian from dancing to what was played in the mean time. Oh no she tore up that dance floor by herself.

When Terry came out again she couldn't take her eyes off of him. More dancing and people watching her followed. She was almost as much of a hit as he was. During his last set of the night she was getting tired, she wanted me to pick her up, so I did. We were still at the front of the stage and he was walking across it. Lillian reached her arm out towards him as he walked by and he stopped and touched her hand. Her eyes were wide filled with such admiration, "mom he touched me" she gushed. You would of thought that Elvis himself had touched her by the way she reacted.

She had such a grand time that I bought her one of his Cd's that he was selling. As we were walking out and towards the exit we seen him by his trailer thing. I grabbed a pen out of my purse and asked him to sign the CD for Lilly. He said that he remembered that little cutie and would be happy to sign it for her. He talked to her for a bit, what a nice man he is. He then told us to wait just a second and he disapperaed into his truck for a second he came back with two stuffed animals and gave one each to the girls. He gave Lilly a teddy bear, (he gives then out when he sings Elvis' Teddy Bear), and to Madelien he gave a stuffed cow, (its from Build a Bear, not some cheap one that you might win at the fair). The girls gave him a hug and thanked him. Lilly named her bear Elvis and she has not let go of him since. He even replaced the stuffed dog that she has been carring around for awhile now.

Movin on up....

Well today was the last day of swim lessons and both girls passed with flying colors. Lilly is so very excited that she will be in the big pool next year. The girls also had their physicals today. My poor baby needed to get four shots for school. The office ran out of the chicken pox vaccine so she only ended up geting three, we need to go back for it once they get in back in stock. (Won't that be fun.)

I think it is over.

Whimper, yes I do believe that the heat has left us for good, yet another day of being in the 60's here. Makes me want to cry it does. I am one of those that loves 90 degree days. I am sitting here now freezing my ass off and it is 66 outside.

Prize day!

I got both of my Bloggy Giveaway prizes in the mail today. I am going to have to read the book Meghan Rose Has a Secert by Lori Z. Scott for myself too. It looks adorable and she even autographed it. Madeline will love it. The earrings I won from Lagaz Designs are stunning, even more beautiful than the picture I seen of them. I had to put them in right away. Lillian thinks that they are the most beautiful earrings ever.

My mom took Madeleine for the night. Woo hoo I still have Lillian here but she is being real good. I got the girls rubber band shooting guns, and I built thema little shooting gallery. Pop cans and paper targets hanging from a box. Lillian loves it, I can't wait for Madeline's reaction.

What a bummer.

Last night the girls were so excitd we were supposed to be seeing Vanessa Hudgens in concert. It started off as a beautiful day, warm and sunny. About halfway through the opening act, Rooney (they are awesome I tell you, I really enjoyed their music and I got some stellar photos which I will get around to uploading), it started to rain.

The rain turned into a downpour, then the lightning started. What a show that was. Rooney was forced to finish their set early due to it. But at the end of the set the lead singer tossed a towel out towards me. After all I was one of the only ones there without a jacket or poncho. My aunt nabbed it but handed it to me so I was able to dry off a little bit. The lightning really started to pick up and we were told that we had to leave the track area as us being their was now a safety hazard. Little girls are screaming in terror there is a mad rush towards the Grandstand. After an hour of the non stop storming they finally announced that the concert was cancelled. Broke a lot of little hearts there.

I am so sick of all this friggin rain this summer already. I am am sitting here watching Transformeers that I DVR'ed last, and tyoing this it has started up again. This has been the wettest summer that I can recall. These past few years have been really dry where as we had to be constantally watering the lawn so it wouldn't burn. Now the laws look like jungles becasue they have been to wet to cut. Lots of rain in the eveings and. nights, nice sunny days equal a growing frenzy

Its Sneaker Night

Well tonight is night, the night of Vanessa Hudgens concert at the county fair. The girls are so very excited, this was part of their birthday presents from my aunt. 3rd row woo hoo. Don't worry I got them earplugs for it. I have a feeling it will be LOUD! I really hope they enjoy it. Mads just loves her.

Red, Blue, Red

What does that mena? Well today the girls had their swim meet. Madeline won the red (2nd) place ribbon in her first event, forward crawl across the pool, and 1st place in the backstroke. I am so very proud of her! She is such a strong little swimmer and she is over the moon that she won a blue ribbon. Lillian won 2nd in the toddler division the alligator crawl across the pool. Lilly is very proud of her ribbon too.

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

So very excited!

I am so very super excited! Madeline won 2nd place at the fair! Woo hoo! She is so thrilled and very proud, she even teased me about beating me I won 3rd place for my flower. I have won a ribbon in this category everytime I have entered it. Madeline also won a game of I GOT IT, you would of thought she hit the lottery when she yelled out "I got it!" so very cute. I ended up winning the next game and gave my ticket to Lillian to pick out a prize. She chose a 101 Dalmataian lunchbox and Mads picked out a stuffed monkey with velcro on its hands and feet.

My feet are killing me, did so much walking today. We have to get up early tomorrow too, the girls have a swim meet. A new thing they didn't have this last year or the year before. I really don't want to go, I mean if it was during normal lessons then it'd be okay but to go there at an earlier time ugh!

Tuesday, August 5, 2008

too tired to think of a title

Today was a hot one, spent a great deal of the morning and afternoon at the town pool. Then this evening took the girls to day 2 of dance camp. Lil is loving it so much. We are for sure putting her in lessons come fall. Mads got a taste of ballet today and she loved it she tells me, so maybe we'll be adding another class in addition to her tap and jazz.

Tomorrow is preview night at the county fair, we are so going! I hope that both Mads and I won a ribbon for our photos. That would just be so awesome, I really want her to win. She'd be thrilled. Well I would be too I'd be more excited if she'd win. This is her first year entering anything and I want it to be memorable for her.

I may be going blind.

I got a case of the munchies and decided I wanted a salami sandwich, quick easy, no mess. I go to the fridge take out the meat and Mircale Whip, (because a sandwich just isn't a sandwich without the Miracle Whip). So I cannot find the loaf of bread I just bought. It is not on top of the mircowave where I normally keep it. I am searching high and low and it is nowhere to be found. Not on the kitchen table, nor the stove top. Not on top of the fridge nor in the pantry. It was not on the floor I looked just in case one of the girls decided to have a piece. Now I am a tad disappointed since I was so looking forward to my sandwich. So I put everything back in the fridge, closed it and turned around. Then I see it, clear as day right dab smack infront of me on the counter. How I missed it I have no clue. I stood right infront of it not two minutes before and did not see the bread there. Old age must be setting in...that or I am so tired that I am not thinking straight.

Happy Birthday to me....NOT!

Well yesterday was my birthday, turned 32 and what a sucky day it was. An overcast day with periods of rain all day long. Ed had to work "C" shift that is 2:30pm to 10:30pm, add two hours to that for travel time to work. So I was alone here almost all day with two miserable, crabby kids who were driving me up the wall. When Ed got home from work he was like "can you rub my arm? My back?" etc... Ummm hello it is my birthday I need the rub down. I had the day from hell with the girls, I actually cried because they were being so miserable, and mean. They just did not get along at all and were constantally fighting. I would of drunk myself stupid had I not been alone with them. It was one of those days. So I spent my birthday playing refree and cleaning up the house, only the things I did doesn't really make the house look and cleaner. Cleaning the aquarium, scrubbing the tub and toliets, my favorites jobs (rolls eyes).

I'm baaaaaack

I am back, there really is no place like home. I had a great time. Young Frankenstein was a fablous show! I'd see it again in a heartbeat. I did go and was on the Today Show. I even was able to get Al Rokers and Natalie Morales autographs. I seen Peter Gallagher on 7th Ave. And appartently there was some music star that I didn't recognize that I said hello to on the steps of Planet Hollywood, don't ask me who it was. Some hip hop or rap guy. There were a bunch of girls scouring their purses for pens saying OMG its whatever his name was.

I may be on the Food Decetives on the Food Network on the 29th I believe it is. I was stopped in Central Park by a film crew, was asked a bunch of questions and my gut is screaming that my answer to the "brain freeze" will make the cut. I mean they asked me to do it three times. I had to sign release forms and everything. I wish I had a dvr. I can just seeing it end up on You Tube too. Oh my, why did I do that??!!

Start spreading the news, I'm leaving Thursday

Holy hell! Did time fly I will be leaving for the Big Apple Thursday morning. That means I'll start packing tonight. LOL. I hope that we have good weather. My first trip to New York Ciry I am so excited. Only took me almost 32 years to get to that part of my home state. I'm about 420 miles or 676 km away, it always amazes me when people think that I am a hop, skip, and jump away. New York is a pretty big state. I need to start packing for it too uhg. Yes I am one of those people that need to be packed a days before I leave. I could never ever pack the night before a trip, just one of my little quirks. Well the laundry is calling my name. Got to get to it.

Out of pratice

Yesterday I got a call from my sister telling me that she is not feeling so well. She asked if I could come and watch my four month old nephew for awhile so she could get some sleep. I told her no problem, I had my girls skip swim lessons for the day, at the time it was 67 degrees out so I wasn't going to take them anyways. I stopped at Wegman's near her house and bought the fixings to make her a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup.

No sooner than I got there did she go upstairs and fall right asleep. My poor sis. My girls and Josh had a good time together. Madeline just adores him. So I make the soup for her and woke her up a little after 5 pm. She ate a bowl as did my girls and myself. She was still looking real tired so I asked her if she wanted me to take him home with me and I'd keep him overnight for her. She said sure (I did a little happy dance inside), so Josh came to Auntie Neen's for the night.

He is such a good boy, but I forgot a lillte something. That kids sometimes wake up in the middle of the night. It was my own fault really staying up until almost 2 am. That is why it hit me so hard when at 4:30 am I heard a little cry. But a quick diaper change and a 4oz bottle that he sucked down. A good burp and with the help of Mr. Seahorse he was back out in no time at all. My girls never really did that at all, the night I brought Madeline home from the hospital she slept from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am. They have always been good sleepers until recently, summer vacation and all.

I so love having him here it is nice outside right now so I think I'll take him for a walk with Madeline. Ed is out with Lillian running some errands.

yummy yummy

I am doing NaBloPoMo challenge again this month, the topic is FOOD! So be sure to check out my food blog everyday for a new recipe. Just click on the link Good Eats Swee Treats and Eye Candy. I hope that you find something you will enjoy.

Pool time

Swim lessons started on Monday here. The girls are loving it, they'd stay at the pool all day. Not that I mind it knocks them out. I already have a nice tan going just rom the past two days. This morning was miserable, I hate the fact that they still have class when it is raining. There has to be lightening for the pool to close. So there we were in the rain, (the umbrella provided little shelter for me)having class. Lillian got out of the pool early because she was so cold. The poor girl was shivering, I was rubbing her arms and legs trying to warm her up. Madeline just thought it was cool and wanted to stay. She is a fish, well they both are really. Madeline likes the deep end now and I swear she is going to give me gray hair. I cannot be in the deep end with her and in the shallow with Lillian at the same time. Nothing like hearing "Mom look at me!" while holding Lillian in the shallow end only to see her doing a cannon ball into 8 feet of water.
Oy!

buzzy day....bad bee

What a long day we have had here. I made some goodies for the party we are going to tomorrow. (My famous taco dip included, see my food blog for the recipe). As I was starting to mix the base I hear a blood curdling scream from outside and then shreiking. Lillian was stung by a bee. Madeline was freaking out that there was a bee around. It somehow managed to get under her hair. Ed is batting at the bee trying to get it away from Lilly, he finally manages to and it it stunned falling to the ground where he trounced it into mush. I whisk Lillian into the house and pull off the leotard she was wearing searching for where she was stung. Turns out it was 4 times, that friggin bee never lost its stinger! Once on the back, once on the back of her shoulder and twice on her upper arm. My poor baby! I give her some tyelnol, and but some cream on the stings, made that bakng soda paste and placed it onto the affected areas. We got her the ice pack to put on her arm. Madeline is still crying and upset that Lilly got stung. Neither want to go back outside to play at this time. Can't blame them for that though.

An hour or so later Lillian was back to her usual self, we even went and got her some Chinese food for dinner since that is what she said she wanted. After the day she had how could we deny her?

Yawn...might be an early night for me

Not even 8pm yet and I am so ready for bed. Seriously ready for bed. I think that after I write this I am going to lay down, leaving Ed to deal with the kids. (Ha ha ha...lets see how he likes it.)

What a Wicked night I had.

And by Wicked I mean the musical. I went to see it at Shea's tonight. What a fantastic show it is! I loved it, loved, loved, loved it I tell you. My birthday is next month and as my gift my aunt took me out to dinner and to see it tonight. Granted I was hoping that it would hold a bit more true to the book but when does any show, movie. I am going to make it a point to attend more shows. I have always loved going to plays and musicals but I usually don't go. I keep making some excuse as to not to go, the girls need or want this. Well no more I tell you, when a show comes to town that I really want to see I am going to go. Rent is coming in January and once I hear tickets are going on sale they are so bought.

Oh foggy night

Boy is it foggy here tonight, Ed took the girls to a ballgame and it was called on account of it. I actually love the fog. The writer in me starts going into high gear, the photographer in me wants to jump in the cat and rush off to the nearest graveyard to get a few shots off. I actually get motivated to go out for a walk. It awakens something inside of me. And I like it! I feel like going outside and baying at the moon. Aaaaaaoooooooooooo! "Listen to them - children of the night. What music they make."

Mommy got a treat :)

I won some money at the casino the other night, so I decided that I was going to get a toy for myself. Now get your mind out of the gutter not that kind of toy. I bought Guitar Hero On Tour for DS. I love it, mainly because Twisted Sisters We're Not Gonna Take It is on it and Lillian loves to rock out to that song. (I so have to get that on video and up on You Tube.) One of these days I need to get my own DS system, I hate waiting until Madeline goes to bed to use hers. Especially now that school is out and she stays up later. I am getting too old to be up this late, well mainly because Lilly will konk out earlier thus waking up earlier in the morning and I am paying the price sleepwise.

Right now they are both out and yet here I am. Why?

Look out NYC here I come

Looks like we will be going to NYC in a few weeks. Ed booked the trip through Expedia. And I don't have to go to the game. He is going with his brother. Dave I LOVE YOU! (Dave is my bil). He wants me to pick a Broadway show to see while we are up there. I have no clue I want to see so many! I also want to be one of those crazy people who line up early for the Today Show. I love the Today Show and watch it every morning. I will be 2 blocks away from Rockerfeller Center so I think I just may go on Friday morning. Watch for me I'll have to make a sign LMAO!

Last day of school

Well today was Madeline's last day of school, she did real well, on her end of the year exam she scored a 98% I am so very proud of her. We have a 2nd grader in our midst here, and a pre-schooler come September. I'll have two and a half hours all to meself each day. Woo hoo!

Today is also CAMP ROCK day! The girls are so excited and cannot wait for the movie. I made us some sandwiches, ices tea, and rice krispie treats and we are going to have a picnic on our living room floor. (Ok I admit it those Jonas Brothers are cute little things I can see why the young girls like them.)

The other two numbers!

Mickey Mouse March">

I need to grab a tissue for this one. It is the father daughter dance done once every 5 years at the studio my daughter attends.

It means a lot more to me than to me than the other numbers she was in. Most of you know by now that last year my husband was diagnosed with diffused large B cell lymphoma, a form of Non-Hodgkins cancer. We got the notice of this number when he was going through chemo and he wanted to dance with Madeline. He took out her old costume from her routine last year and hung it on the back of our closet door as a daily motivation to be there, to dance with her on stage.

I'll get the others up ASAP!

Hope you enjoy her at the dress rehersal held on Fri. June 13, 2008
The times when she goes off screen were when I was taking snapshots of her

I feel so blonde

I managed to get the movies of Madeline's dance recital onto my laptop here but for the life of me I cannot seem to get them up onto You Tube. I did that one of Lilly awhile back don't ask me how I managed to do it.

She did so good!

I am so proud of Madeline she did so well at the dress rehersal. Ed is great too, now he cannot say that he doesn't know how to dance, I seen him do it. I cannot wait until tomorrow, I'll have to get her some flowers for after the show. She told me that she wants bunches and bunches.

Hairspray

Now that Hairspray is on HBO, it is Lillian's favorite thing to watch. She really is a girl after my own heart when it comes to love of musicals.

Today was the last day of dance classes before the recital and while the "dancers" were downstairs doing their thing she was keeping all the mom's entertained by singing songs from the movie and dancing.

They have her pegged as the show stealer for next year's recital. It will be her first year of dancing. Everyone there loves her so much she is such the character. Miss Casey and Miss Katie two of the high school girls who help teach told me today that they want to know what class she will be in so they can be the teachers of that class.

Last week Rose one of the other moms, gave me a bag full of clothes that her girls outgrew and in there were a couple leotards. Lilly has been living in them all week. She even wore one to the studio tonight much to Rose's delight. Lilly in dancing clothes was the hit of the night. Everyone was loving it. Andboy was she flaunting it too. It feels so great having so many people really like your kids.

Getting excited

This Saturday is Madeline's dance recital. I so cannot wait to see it all her work paying off. She was bumped up to a higher level class year, not too shabby I thought since only one other girl form her class last year was, and two from the same level from the Saturday classes were. Funny thing is that those four girls ARE the class. She has 2 numbers that she will be dancing to, plus the special "daddy and daughter dance" that the studio does every five years, and of course the finale. I'll be taping the dances at the rehersal on Friday since cameras are not allowed at the actual recital. So hopefully I'll have it up on YouTube soon after that.

Friday is the rehersal, it is also the day of Madeline's "big field trip" to Fantasy Island. (A local amusement park). Now we have to be at the concert hall at 4:45 in costume, hair and make up done. Her school does not dismiss until 3:30, and after a day at the park in the sun, I just know that she will be in a "mood". So I wrote a note to her teacher yesterday asking when they are due back at the school. The reply was 1:30. Now school starts at 9:00am and it takes about 40 minutes to get to this park. So they'd be there like 3 and a half hours only. What a joke! Where is the fun in that? So I figured she can go and I will pick her up from school early or I will give her the option of just staying home. We always take the girls there at least once in the summer anyways, and we stay all day long.

Something about the sound of..

rolling thunder and a gentle rain, just puts me so at ease. I love the flashes of lightening as it dances across the sky. I find it all so very relaxing. I just hope that the girls don't wake up scared.

Having a heatwave here

Greetings from a tropical paradise! Wait I am still at home in the B-lo! How can this be?? Here it is quarter after seven in the evening and it is 89º. 89º! It never gets this hot this early in the year. In face it seldom reaches 90º on the hottest of summer days here. I am loving it. I am a creature of the heat, I thrive on days like this, love to go out and soak up the heat. It makes my body feel so nice. I cannot stand the cold anything under 75 is cold to me. I should be outside right now, but don't want Mads out there.

She is doing way better today, looks almost normal, she was back to picking on her younger sister. I think I'll take her to dance class in the morning, and to the birthday party on Sunday.

My poor baby

On Tuesday afternoon Madeline started acting up a bit. I chalked it up to her sister's birthday and her getting presents from people. She wasn't happy on Sunday, her sisters real birthday, and Yuesday we meet up with my aunt to take Lillian to get a bite to eat and then to The Rat's Place (Chuck E Cheeses) to play. Lillian of course got a gift and Madeline was whining that she didn't get any, its not fair and so on. She fell asleep on the car ride home about 6:30ish, so not like her at all. When we got home a little bit past 7 she went to bed. A couple hours later she woke up crying that her head hurt. I felt her forehead and she felt hot! I took her temp and it was 102.5, I gave her tyleol and she said that she wanted some of my chicken soup. So I told my husband that I am running to the store and picked up the stuff to make it for her. I come home to find her laying like a rag doll on the couch, just looking at her made my heart ache. Any mom knows that heart breaking look in the eyes when their baby is sick. So at 11 or so I called the nurses line at her school and told them that she wouldn't be in school Wednesday that she is running a fever.

Yesterday she was just blah all day and the temp would come back just as soon as the tylenol wore off. So I kept her home again this morning. I also made a doctor's appointment for her we were able to get an appointment for an hour after I called so after a quick hussle this moring shows all around and all off we went. Turns out thst she has strep throat. I thought it was weird since she never said that her throat hurt. But now we got her on antibotics so hopefully she will be felling better soon. I hope, I so hate seeing her like this.

Listen....

CRUNCH!

http://zrecs.blogspot.com/2008/06/simple-machines-haba-discovery-balls.html

I clean up nicely.

Wow I said as I looked in the mirror, can that possibly be me? Amazing what a napping child and not doing any house work can accomplish. Instead of the sink full of dishes calling to me I decided to curl my hair,(I finally bought a small barrel curling iron), put on more make-up than just a tad bit of blush and some lip stick. I did the wholw nine yards, boy do I love that Bare Escentuals make up. It feels like I have no make up on at all. It took away those big dark circles under my eyes. I don't have that foundation line it is well worth the cost of the product.

Ugh Men.

Why do we put up with them? Why must they act like over grown babies? Up until an hour ago we were planning a NYC getaway, I was so excited I was finally going to get to visit the Big Apple. A city that I dreamed of going to for years. Right before I was about to book it on line he who shall be known as dick head from here on in made some comment about going to a Yankees game. I told him that I didn't want to go to any baseball game while I was there, that he wants to go he can go alone or call his brother who is currently living up there to go with him. Well that is where the shit hit the fan. He went off on some tangent about I am so terrible that I wouldn't go to a ball game with him. He knows that I despise going to baseball games. (If I am in a city that I have wanted to go to since I was a small child that I am only going to be in for a weekend I am not going to waste hours sitting in the hot sun, packed in like sardines at a ball park. There is just too much I want to see), his brother would be more than willing to go I know this for a fact.

So dick head is still ranting and raving about how awful I am, that I don't want to spend anytime with him doing things he likes,(yeah the hockey games that I got dragged to don't seem to count, nor do the ones where I sat freezing my ass off watching him play on a Senior C leauge) and that he was going to go to a Broadway show with me. (Mind you I cannot get him to take me to the local theater here to see one of the traveling versions of the show for half the price of what it would cost there). I hadn't even been planning on taking in a show on this trip. So he starts pouting and tells me not to book it, that he doesn't want to go if I don't go to a game with him, blah blah blah waah waah waah. I told him that I'd go but that I would not be a happy camper but noooooo he wanted to continue his hissy fit. Fine what ever!

I just think it is funny that when he does not want to do what I want to do it is ok for me to go and do it alone, and that he is happy that he does not get dragged along. But heaven forbid that I don't want to do something he wants to do. What the hell is up with that? So anyway I didn't book the trip and I will be damned if I book it tomorrow or any day after that. I'll take that money and do something with the girls, (probably with out dick head), or go and buy some new furniture that we desperately need.

What a great day!

Today we got the 6 month post chemo report on my husband. Everything looks great the tumor is gone and his bloodwork came back and it is perfect. What a load off our minds here. In three more months he'll go for another scan then the dreaded week wait for the report. But I have a great feeling that this beast is beat for good.I sure hope that is the case.

Thank you Natalie for hosting this giveaway and choosing me as the winner, and I really did mean that last comment I hate hate hate the Yankees, just ask my husband or kids. My hubby loves them and I love the digs I can give him this season Cough*last*place*cough* Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket for tonight's drawing.

Snail mail rocks! I love postcrossing.

If you are like me, you like to receive regular notes and letters in your mailbox, just not bills and junk mail. Wouldn't you love to receive beautiful postcards in your mail from all over the world? I sure do. I was so happy this afternoon when I received yet another postcard in the mail. I always tell everyone about www.postcrossing.com The postcard crossing project. “Send a postcard and receive one back from a random postcrosser somewhere in the world!”

A little bit about postcrossing:

The goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that: if you send a postcard, you'll receive at least one back, from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world.

Why? Because, there are lots of people who like to receive real mail.
The element of surprise of receiving postcards from different places in the world (many of which you'd probably never have heard of) can turn your mailbox into a box of surprises - and who wouldn't like that?

How does it work?

First, the short version:

1. request an address from the website
2. mail the postcard to the address
3. wait to receive a postcard
4. register the received postcard in the system

The first step is to request an address of another user to who, you must mail a postcard. You will receive the recipient's address and a postcard ID (e.g.: US-78) via email. The postcard ID uniquely identifies your postcard in the system.

You must then mail the postcard with the provided ID clearly written on it. This will allow the recipient to register your postcard on Postcrossing, thereby making you the next person whose address will be issued to the next postcrosser who requests an address to mail a postcard to.

You can have up to 5 postcards traveling at any single time. Every time one of the postcards you sent is registered, you can request another address.

The site also has a map where you can track your sent and received cards, a forum full of great people. And all it cost you is the price of a post card and an international stamp. You will not get a postcard from the same country in which you reside. Nor is this a pen pal thing, I mean you can of course start up a pen pal with someone you send a card to if you so choose. I have received 135 postcards so far and I love it I have gotten a post card from every continent except for Antarctica, and from so many different countries. I have even gotten my 6 year old into it. Helps her practice her writing and she loves learning about other countries from the people who send her postcards, a lot of the people enjoy writing to the children, most of us signed up our kids too. I hope that some of you will check it out and sign up too.

Before...and after

Ok as promised here are some photos of the bedroom, there are way more before ones since well before kicked ass in my eye. There was a lot more detail and was a lot more fun than just the 2 colors the room now boasts.

And now it looks like this, simple and worlds different from my no longer masterpiece, but she likes it all that matters. Only that one wall has the accent color on it. There are more polka dots that were added since I took the photos too. Madeline was not too happy with her sister's new room and threw a small fit. She does not believe us when we tell her that her room is not done yet and won't be until July when we can get my step dad over here (he is a carpenter) and Ed has a week off to actually finish it. We had to remind her over and over again that she begged for the smaller room, and that we told her there was no trade backs once we did it, and that the other room would be done first.

As I was uploading these pics to the computer, Lilly came next to me and went "awww I miss my fishies in my room. I want them back." Little shit, sorry kid you are so S.O.L. At least I will now forever have these preserved so I can remember what I once did.
