Why oh why do I wait until the last minute to do somethings? For example emptying out Madeline's school bag. The entire time she has been home on Christmas break I did not remove any of the take home papers. She wanted to switch her book bag to the new High School Musical one I got for her for Christmas. So I am switching everything over as she is getting her jammies on. I am going through the papers and I see on the menu that she has been chosen as the Beary Special Person of the Week for the first grade. (I am bursting with pride here! The Bears are our school district's mascot). So she knew I was going through her bag, and I called out to her sternly, "Madeline get over here." I put on a mad looking face and I asked her if she had something to tell me about what happened at school. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights and said no. I asked her then what about this, handing her the paper folded with the announcement right at the top. She is thinking that she is busted, that she did something wrong, she reads "The Beary Special Persons for the week of Dec. 31- Jan, 4 are Kindergarten so and so room 102. 1st Grade Madeline (Last name) room 127...a brief pause... Madeline (Last name) Thats me! I'm the Beary Special Person of the Week!" I broke into a huge smile and hugged her tight. I told her how proud I was of her and that I'd get her a special treat for getting this honor. The look on her face was priceless. She is so happy about this, she already has the outfit she wants to wear to school tomorrow picked out since she will be having her picture taken and displayed in the main hall's showcase. Did I mention how proud I am of her?
I wish I had known about this prior to Christmas so I could of bragged to everyone about it at the parties we went to
